Oil-free compressors
Settembre 25, 2017
The industry generally tends to use latest-generation air and gas compressors, i.e., those capable of providing clean compressed fluid as economically as possible. For this reason, compressor manufacturers are increasingly using technologies that tend to improve performance in terms of energy savings.
Their products use, for example, inverters applied to low-consumption electric motors. For the quality of the output air, manufacturers are turning to oil-free screw technology.
Oil-free screw compressors have the unique feature that during the compression and cooling of the air through heat exchangers (coolers zr), the lubricating oil does not come into contact with the compressed air.
In fact, oil-free screws have a self-lubricating coating on their surfaces that allows the machine to operate without using traditional lubricants. The coating is typically a fluoropolymer applied to the screws by the manufacturer through a polymerization process.
This allows the coating to adhere to the metal surface of the screw in a permanent and stable manner. Oil-free screw compressors are used for this characteristic in companies that produce items that cannot be contaminated by traces of oil, which lubricated screw compressors release into the compressed air even if it undergoes multiple degrees of filtration.
